Chinese Cultural Symbolic City & International Confucius Cultural Festival

The Press Conference was held at the Briefing Hall of the Information Office of the State Council in Beijing, announced the Design and Plans for the Chinese Cultural Symbolic City to be located at the birthplace of Confucius in Shandong Province.

 

This major project was approved by China's President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao.   It is designed to highlight the importance of Chinese civilization to the world.

 

"The overall layout of the Symbolic City will combine three concepts in which historical and cultural resources will be protected, improved and integrated." Jiang Daming, Governor of Shandong Province.

 

"Construction of the Symbolic City is not only a project of Shandong and China, but China's gift to the whole world." Xu Jialu, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

 

Elizabeth B. Wang, President of the Chinese Cultural Foundation serviced as Member of the Committee of Experts and as a Consultant to the Organizing Committee of Chinese Cultural Tie Project.

The event was chaired by Mr. Li Qun, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, Director General of Publicity Department of Shandong Province, and Deputy Director General of Shandong Provincial Planning and Construction Commission of Chinese Cultural Symbolic City.  More than 300 people attended the event including representatives from all the major Chinese news media.
