Dr. Ellen Qiongzhao Schicktanz is a world-renowned Chinese-American artist and sculptor.  She holds a Doctorate in Literature and Art History.  Graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design and Waseda University in Japan, and Northwest University in China.  She serves as the Vice President of the Rodin International Artists Foundation and is the Director of the America Goddess Art Museum in the United States. Her oil paintings and sculptures have been collected by the Fuji Art Museum in Japan, the Museum of the American Revolution, the National Constitution Center, the National Historic Site Park Museum in the United States.

 

In 2017, President Biden unveiled the opening of the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, where Dr. Ellen Qiongzhao Schicktanz generously donated two of her largest historic bronze relief sculptures: "Washington Crossing the Delaware River" and "Signing of the Declaration of Independence".  She was later recognized with the Cultural Contribution Award from the Chinese Cultural Foundation in New York for her significant contributions to the art community and cross-cultural exchange efforts.

 

In 2018, She was honored with the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor at the American Multicultural Supreme Immigration Awards for her outstanding achievements in the fields of art and culture. In 2019, she held a highly successful solo art exhibition of her oil paintings and sculptures at the Federal Hall National Memorial in Wall Street, New York City, where George Washington was inaugurated as the First President of the United States in 1789.

In 2021 and 2023, she participated in the New York International ArtExpo and was awarded the highest honors with Artistic Excellence Award and Director's Award.  She was also recognized with the Chinese Cultural Heritage Award at the National Congress of Chinese Americans in Washington, DC, in 2022.  

Dr. Ellen Qiongzhao Schicktanz is passionate about preserving and celebrating America's rich cultural heritage through her art. She believes that her work will provide a unique opportunity to educate and engage people about the history, present, and future of the United States and its enduring spirit.

The Chinese Cultural Foundation joined with Rodin International Artists Foundation, American Goddess Art Museum, Japan-China International Cultural Exchanges Association, New York Hudson Center for Contemporary Arts, and other local cultural organizations to support a special online art exhibition of works by international renowned artists entitled: "Eastern & Western Borderless - Walking with Great Art Masters" from September 25th through November 25, 2021.

The National Arts Club - "Ink, Chinese Dream"

 

 

The Chinese Cultural Foundation (CCF) in collaboration with the China Artists Association (CAA) and the Beijing International Cultural and Creative Industry (BICCI) hosted a week-long Exhibition: “Ink - Chinese Dream” featuring 16 leading Chinese artists.  The Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition and Art Salon were conducted at the National Arts Club and a series of cultural and educational programs were held at the Columbia University.  

Ambassador Sun Guoxiang joined more than 300 distinguished guests at the Opening Reception and Ceremony. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg sent his congratulatory letter.

        "For more than a decade, the Chinese Cultural Foundation has introduced great Chinese art to New York's diverse audiences.  Now, thanks to "Ink-Chinese Dream," we have the rare opportunity to see traditional link painting reinvented by leading contemporary artists."

Celebrating the Life and Art of Chen Chi 程及 (1912 - 2005)

 

 

The Chinese Cultural Foundation held a special reception and exhibition “Celebrating the Life and Art of Chen Chi” which was co-hosted by Bailin Zheng, General Manager of the Bank of China, at the Bank’s US headquarters in New York City.

 

Chen Chi was honored by numerous dignitaries, and received written salutations from World Bank President, Sir James D. Wolfensohn and New York City Mayor, Michael R. Bloomberg:

        "From China to New York City, people throughout the world have enjoyed your beautiful paintings.  Your ingenuity and amazing watercolors have inspired gererations of artists, and your paintings of New York City's great treasures, including the metropolitan Opera House and Central Park, are especially meaningful to our city."

Celebrating the Life and Art of Mu Xin 木心 (1927-2011)

 

 

The Chinese Cultural Foundation and Bank of China co-hosted a special exhibition at the Bank of China's headquarters in New York City.

 

Mu Xin, is known as one of China’s most significant artists, writers and poets. More than 200 business, diplomatic and cultural leaders attended. A presentation was made by Mu Xin, with additional comments by Ambassador Wang Guangya , Chinese Ambassador to the UN, Bailin Zheng, General Manager of the Bank of China, and Elizabeth B. Wang, President of the Chinese Cultural Foundation.  New York City Mayor, Michael R. Bloomberg, in a written salute stated:

           “We pay tribute to this amazing artist, Mu Xin. I recognize the Chinese Cultural Foundation for making this evening’s event possible. You have played an important role in maintaining our City’s cultural vitality.”

Celebrating the Year of the Tiger - Xinle Ma 马欣乐 (b.1963)

 

 

The Chinese Cultural Foundation and Bank of China co-hosted the Year of the Tiger Celebration Art Exhibition featuring Xinle Ma and his exciting Tiger paintings at the Bank of China's headquarters in New York City.

 

More than 200 business, diplomatic and cultural leaders attended. A presentation was made by Xinle Ma, with remarks by Ambassador Li Baodong, Chinese Ambassador to the UN, Ambassador Nicholas Platt, Steve Orlins, Xiaojing Li, General Manager of the Bank of China, and Elizabeth B. Wang, President of the Chinese Cultural Foundation.  New York City Mayor, Michael R. Bloomberg, in a written salute stated:

           “New Yorkers of all backgrounds can enjoy the work of world-renowned artist Xinle Ma - and the richness and variety of our shared cultural life."

Beyond East & West - Zhiyuan Cong 丛志远 (b.1957)

 

 

The Chinese Cultural Foundation and the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China co-sponsored an exhibition featuring Zhiyuan Cong entitled: “Beyond East and West” at the United Nations.

 

This event was held at the United Nations in New York City with an opening reception hosted by Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yishan with more than 300 cultural, diplomatic and business leaders attended, including Ambassador Chen Jian, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Yue-Sai Kan .  

 

         "Professor Zhiyuan Cong's artworks embody the United Nations's spirit.  As the title of this exhibition which reflects and transcends the West and East.  It represents a growing awareness of the importances of art and culture in bringing people from all nations closer together."

The Year of the Tiger Exhibition at the Bank of China

NEW YORK, June 30 (Xinhua) -- An influential group of business, cultural and diplomatic leaders gathered Tuesday at the New York headquarters of the Bank of China to celebrate "The Year of the Tiger" with paintings by esteemed Chinese artist Xinle Ma.
           

The event was a recognition of the importance of culture in bringing together executives from banking, commerce and industry in an atmosphere conducive to establishing positive new relationships, Li Xiaojing, General Manager USA of the Bank of China, said at the reception. Li was joined at the reception by the Chinese Cultural Foundation represented by Elizabeth B. Wang, founder and president and John W. Allen, founding trustee. 


"I was fortunate to learn traditional Chinese painting from some of the great masters," Ma said. "Five tigers symbolize happiness and peace," he said. "The tiger is an animal with elements of our own human nature combined with its own wild spirit. In my paintings I like to make my tigers appear friendly and ready to come down to talk, play and live with us."
         

Ambassador Li Baodong, the Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations, Ambassador Peng Keyu, China's Consul General in New York, Stephen Orlins, President of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, and Ambassador Nicholas Platt, the former President of the Asia Society, were among some 200 top international business and cultural leaders attended the reception.
         

Elizabeth B. Wang read a letter of congratulations from Mayor Michael Bloomberg that said in part:“Tonight I join you in applauding Xinle Ma and all those associated with the Bank of China and the Chinese Cultural Foundation for uniting our city in this celebration." Maurice R. "Hank" Greenberg, Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Cultural Foundation sent his greetings.
         

The Bank of China is China's oldest and most important international bank and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2012. It established its New York banking operations in 1981.The Chinese Cultural Foundation was established in 2003 and has been a major sponsor at many business, cultural and educational events around the world.

Celebrating the Year of the Tiger

The Chinese Cultural Foundation and Citibank co-sponsored a special Chinese New Year celebration featuring Xinle Ma, one of China's most prominent artists.  The event highlighted the "Year of the Tiger" with an exhibition of Xinle Ma's dramatic Tiger paintings and with music provided by Princeton University's famous singing group the "Tigertones". 

           

More than 200 distinguished guests attended the lively event, including William Rhodes, Senior Vice Chairman of Citigroup, Professor Robert A. Mundell, Nobel Laureate and CCF Advisor, Henry Parker, III, Founder of the Princeton "Tigertones" singing group, Henry Tang, co-Founder of the Committee of 100 , Stephen Orlins, President of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and Chien Chung "Didi" Pei, Vice Chairman of the China Institute, who had just returned from London where his father, I. M. Pei received the Royal Gold Medal.

           

This highly successful occasion was a perfect example of how business and culture can work together in harmony for everyone's benefit.  Citibank once again demonstrated its leadership in this regard.  This event was held at Citibank's elegant Fifth Avenue branch under the direction of Raymond Wong, Branch Manager and Stephen Fusco, Area Director and Senior Vice President.

Pandas Are Coming to NYC - Art Exhibit

May 19, 2016. The Chinese Cultural Foundation in conjunction with the China Investment Group held an Art Exhibition of Giant Panda paintings and honored the talented 18 years old young Chinese artist, Xuanjin Wang, with its Young Artists Award.  The occasion celebrated an exciting new initiative - a project to bring two Giant Panda cubs from China to New York City.  

 

Mr. John A. Catsimatidis, a major New York City Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, gave an inspiring description of the Panda Project.  He said it provides another strong link between China and New York City – and will be a big attraction for New Yorkers and tourists alike and of great benefit to the local economy. Mr. Catsimatidis complimented the Panda Project leadership, spearheaded by Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney and Chinese celebrity, Yue-Sai Kan together with international business leaders including Maurice R. Greenberg, Chairman of the STARR Companies, Mortimer Zuckerman, owner and publisher of the New York Daily News and U.S. News and World Report and many others.  He also thanked the Chinese Cultural Foundation, for providing a perfect occasion to introduce the Panda Project to a global audience. 

 

This occasion was attended by dozens of special guests including Ambassador Paul Speltz, Cultural Counselor Liyan Li, Chien Chung Pei, Chairman of the Pei Partnership Architect, John Wang, President of the Asian American Business Development Center and Harry Edelson, Chairman of the China Investment Group.  It was recorded by China’s leading media networks including China Economic Daily, People’s Daily, China Daily, China Press, Phoenix TV, Sinovision, Society and Diplomatic Review and others.  Their articles and TV news stories are broadcast to billions of viewers both in China and throughout the world.

Elizabeth B. Wang, President and John W. Allen, Trustee of the Chinese Cultural Foundation, in viewing the painting of Panda cubs playing in front of a rendition of the Statue of Liberty, expressed the universal feeling that “Everyone loves Pandas”.   They thanked Xuanjin Wang and John Catsimatidis for adding Pandas as a reason why New York City is known as the "Cultural Capital of the World".
