Chinese New Year - Spring Festival Reception at the House of Tai Ping

The Chinese Cultural Foundation joined hands with the House of Tai Ping hosted a celebration of  the Chinese New Year - Spring Festival VIP Reception at Tai Ping’s elegant New York headquarters overlooking Union Square.

 

Tai Ping’s CEO, James Kaplan, provided his warm welcome and gave a retrospective of the historic origins of the House of Tai Ping. Elizabeth B. Wang, Founder and President of the Chinese Cultural Foundation spoke about the mission of the foundation and John W. Allen, Trustee of the Chinese Cultural Foundation acknowledged special guests, including  Deputy Consul General Meifang Zhang who representing Ambassador Zhang Qiyue, China’s new Consul General here in New York provided a special remarks.  Sarah Johnson, Director of Carnegie Hall’s Well Music Institute, described the organization’s National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) which will be performing in seven cities throughout China during July 2015.  She then introduced a wind quintet from the NYO-USA which performed for the guests at the evening’s event.  The guests also enjoyed seeing several magnificent watercolor paintings by the late Chinese artist Chen Chi, including, his famous “Moon, Sun and Cloud” series.  These were on display along with unique artistic designed carpets from the collection of the House of Tai Ping in order to illustrate the artistic brilliance of the two mediums.
